THE driver of a BMW involved in a serious crash in the early hours of yesterday morning has been arrested.

Police have now issued an appeal for witnesses. Officers were called to the scene at 3.10am, to reports of a single-vehicle crash. 

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "It’s understood the vehicle was driving down Kirk Lane in Guiseley, then onto New Road, then onto Dibb Lane where it was in collision with street furniture.

"The passenger in the BMW, a 26-year-old female was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

"The driver, a 25-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation.

"Police are appealing for witnesses and if anyone saw the BMW prior to the collision to come forward.
