A BRADFORD school is having a two-day "circuit breaker" closure following a rise in positive Covid-19 cases.

A letter sent to parents of Clayton Village Primary School, seen by the Telegraph & Argus, sets out the reasoning behind the closure.

It says: "Due to the increase in positive cases we have had in school since returning from October half term, we have been advised by PHE to have a 48 hour circuit breaker.

"This decision has been made after confirmation of another positive case in school , resulting in Year 6 closing for 14 days.

"We are mindful that Year 3, 4 and 5 have only just returned, with Year 2 returning next week.

"Therefore, it is of utmost importance that we take actions to control the virus and the potential spread throughout the school."

It adds: "During the 48 hour circuit breaker the school will be deep cleaned and sanitised.

"Therefore school will be closed to ALL pupils on Monday and Tuesday with Reception, Year 1, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 returning on Wednesday 25th November.

"Year 2 will return Thursday 26th November and Year 6 will return on Monday 7th December."

The letter says online work will be set for pupils.

Figures provided by Bradford Council revealed that 95 per cent of schools in the district had been affected by Covid-19 since the start of the school year in September.

As of November 6, there were 204 schools with one or more cases and 106 schools, nearly 50 per cent, had bubbles/year groups closures.
