WITH lockdown in place this month, we’ve missed out on Christmas lights switch-on ceremonies and festive grottos.

So we've delved into our archive to take a look at some of Santa’s visits to Bradford stores and shopping centres over the years.

Who remembers getting friendly with one of Santa’s reindeer at Bradford's much-loved department store, Busbys?

It must have been quite a sight to see both Father and Mother Christmas making their way to Busbys. Crowds turned out to see them enter the store in a festive procession. Also pictured are staff at Busbys getting into the festive spirit, putting the final touches to Santa's grotto.

As well as festive decorations and Santa's grotto, Bradford’s Arndale Centre, now the Kirkgate Shopping Centre, has traditionally had brass bands and community choirs entertaining Christmas shoppers. Here we have a photo of a school choir and orchestra in 1980.

Were you there when Father Christmas swapped his sleigh for a vintage car when he made quite an entrance in Bradford for the city's festive lights switch-on in November 1985?

Or were you among the excited youngsters and parents gathered outside Sunwin House in Bradford to see the man of the moment, Father Christmas, in November 1983?

Share your memories and photos of when Santa came to town.
