CITY Valley Church in Shipley has vowed to help people find work in the pandemic with an eight-week job club.
With unemployment rates on the rise and the UK’s redundancies at an all-time high according to the ONS, the north has been hit particularly hard. Since the Shipley Job Centre closed for good, the town has seen a growing need for support and the church has risen to the challenge. It will be providing free help to anyone in the Shipley area looking for work, offering advice and practical help to find employment in the run up to Christmas 2020. All are welcome but due to Covid-19 restrictions, booking is essential. It will start on Monday, November 16 at 12 noon.
What will the CAP Job Club involve?
The Job Club meets weekly in Shipley town centre. The club consists of an eight-week course that provides all the tools needed to find work including working on top CV writing and interview skills.
How much does it cost?
Absolutely nothing – the Job Club is completely free.
Do I have to be a Christian?
Not at all – the service is for everyone. "As Christians we want to reach people of all backgrounds and ethnicities, of all faiths and of none, to help people to find employment," the Church said.
