POLICE have shared shocking footage of the moment a driver almost hit a woman and pram when overtaking on a path.

West Yorkshire Police's Steerside Enforcement Team - which is dedicated to tackling anti-social and dangerous driving - posted a video on Twitter showing a black car weaving across the road to try get ahead of other vehicles.

It was on Little Horton Lane, just after its junction with Park Lane and next to the Brigella Mills.

The car first comes into shot on the right of the screen, having been on the wrong side of the road.

The driver then swerves out to the left and onto the public footpath to overtake the silver vehicle in front of it.

It is then that a heart-stopping moment happens.

The overtaking car comes within inches of hitting a woman, who is pushing a pram on the path.

The footage was submitted by a member of the public back in May.

The Steerside Enforcement Team conducted an investigation and dealt with the driver as a result.

They were given a 15 month driving ban and ordered to complete 140 hours of community service.

West Yorkshire Police also shared dash-cam footage it was sent through a new internet portal, in September.

It showed another spine-chilling moment where a driver risked everything to overtake on the wrong side of the road.

The 20-year-old, who came close to colliding with another car, was given a two year ban from driving.

The footage of the driver performing the dangerous act was submitted via the force's Safer Roads Submission portal, which was launched at the back end of July.

Thanks to the submission, police were able to get in touch with the driver of the first lorry the 20-year-old overtook.

The lorry driver also had dashcam footage, which gave another angle of the incident.

The Safer Roads Submission Portal was created in response to increasing submissions of footage relating to driving offences that members of the public witnessed.

These reports were submitted to the police in a variety of ways beforehand, so a streamlined process was developed to deal with them.
