OTLEY Civic Centre will go under the hammer at an online property auction next month - with a £135,000 guide price.

The centre, in the heart of the town, was closed in 2010, and Leeds Council recently announced that it was one of a number of buildings it planned to sell off in the coming months to help balance its tightening budget.

The Grade II listed building, ,which dates back to 1871, features in the catalogue of properties in an online auction run by Pugh Properties on December 9.

The centre is described as: “A freehold building approximately 15,500 sq ft over several floors including an auditorium. Originally built in 1871 as The Mechanics Institute and subsequently extended in 1895. The property has potential for numerous uses subject to the necessary consent.”
