VOLUNTEERS from the Bradford Hindu community were out in force to help feed the district’s children.

Indu Dharni from Indian Women's Community UK (IWCUK) and Dharmesh Mistry, from Bradford Hindu Council (BHC), were instrumental in getting the Hindu community to donate food and money to help provide lunches for children during last month’s half-term holiday.

Dharni said: “We were so overwhelmed with our Bradford Hindu Community spirit as they wanted to help with anything.”

District projects helped were Girlington Community Centre, Parkside Sports Centre, Bradford Kitchen, Mack Studios Community Hub and Kitchen Bately.

Others included Batley Foodbank, Bramwell Sports Development, Dewsbury, Ossett, Heckmondwike, Pudsey Community Projects Group, who organised distribute pack ups in the Pudsey, Calverley, Bramley, Swinnow areas. Homeless project, Bradford Curry Project, Homeless Hampers Leeds and Monday Munch Homeless Support Bradford.
