SIR - In his letter to the T&A (November 4), Alec Suchi referenced a point made by MP Philip Davies regarding the provision of free school meals for children.
The use of the term “virtue signalling” is the latest buzz word used by Tory politicians to smear the genuine concerns of people for the wellbeing of the population during difficult times.
This, along with the term “woke”, are being normalised in the attack on anyone showing an ounce of empathy towards anyone less fortunate in society.
Children whose parents are incapable, for whatever reason, of providing a healthy square meal are not to blame and should not be deprived in order to punish the parents.
No doubt I’ll be labelled a woke virtue signaller for raising the point!
