TWO 30-year-old woman have died in a horror smash after the car they were travelling in collided with a tree.

Emergency services rushed to the village of Thorner near Leeds, at 7.30am yesterday (Oct 29).

Despite receving medical treatment both women, who are yet to be named, died at the scene.

According to officers the vehicle involved in the collision was a black Renault Clio.

West Yorkshire Police have launched a full investigation into the crash and specially trained officers are supporting the families of the two victims.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who saw the Renault Clio or who may have dashcam footage of the car.

It was last seen on Wyke Ridge Lane, travelling away from Leeds, at about 12.50am on Thursday.

Detective Inspector Paul Conroy from the Major Collision Enquiry Team said: "We are conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of this collision which has sadly resulted in the death of two women.

"We have specially trained officers with their families at this difficult time.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the Carr Lane area of Thorner yesterday morning from around 1am and who saw the vehicle to come forward and speak to us.

"We understand that the vehicle was last seen at approximately 12.50am (October 29) on Wyke Ridge Lane, travelling away from Leeds."
