BRADFORD’S Nazim Ali has again delivered over 30 gifts to children at Airedale Hospital to mark the birthdate of the Prophet Muhammad.

Nazim said he wanted to thank Shiraz Ahmed and Fairaz Ahmed, of Bradford-based Saveco Cash & Carry for their on-going support.

“They have been the main sponsors for the now four times a year ‘Creating Smiles Gifts Initiative, supporting both Airedale and Bradford Royal Infirmary Children’s Wards, and which has been running for over eight years now,” said Nazim.

Nazim distributes gifts each Christmas, Easter, Eid Ul Fitr and Eid Ul Adha.

He added: “We are living in unprecedented times with Covid-19 and we are determined to carry this initiative on to spread goodness and positivity.”

“It will be a stressful time for parents to have children in hospital and then also be worried about getting the disease or family members getting it and having to self-isolate. The diverse range of gifts included cuddly toys, children’s DVD’s, play sets, babies toys and so forth with a mixture for boys and girls of all faiths.

“It was a gesture of kindness and to show that members of the wider community do care and think about the poorly children and ultimately uplift their spirits,” he added.

This is the 4th gift-giving to Airedale Hospital during the Covid-19 period and during the last six months.

He added: “As a child I spent a significant period in hospital due to my struggle with TB and can empathise with what the children are going through.”

Shiraz Ahmed said, “We are pleased to support Airedale Hospital once more. Knowing so many children will be joyous and excited upon receiving their presents fills myself and Fairaz with inner happiness and contentment. This initiative and the other charitable initiatives we support such as supporting foodbanks, sponsoring soup kitchens and junior football teams is all part of our corporate social responsibility as a Bradford-based business to give back to society and is something Fairaz and I passionately believe in. This is a difficult period and we will get through it by praying for one another & supporting one another.”

Ruth Matthews (Play Specialist at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust) said: “The gifts are such a kind gesture to give a little smile to the poorly children on our ward. We are extremely grateful to Nazim, Saveco Cash & Carry and Ottoman Tea, Bar & Grill for thinking of us once more and are thankful for Nazim’s continued support.”
