A CLINICIAN who worked in Bradford is to give evidence at the Infected Blood Inquiry.

Thursday's hearing will take evidence from Professor Liakat Parapia, who was a consultant at the Bradford Haemophilia Centre from 1982-2009.

The Infected Blood Inquiry was established to examine the circumstances in which patients treated by the NHS in the 1970s and 1980s received infected blood and/or blood products.

It is believed to have led to an estimated 2,400 deaths.

The inquiry is also investigating the impact on their families; how the authorities responded and the care and support provided to those infected and affected.

The hearing will be held in London, with previous witness hearings taking place in Cardiff, Belfast, Leeds and Glasgow.

Two previous inquiries have been branded a whitewash by campaigners.
