BRADFORD South MP Judith Cummins helped deliver hygiene and beauty products to residents after a charity donation.
Mrs Cummins, co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Beauty, Aesthetics and Wellbeing, delivered the products to people across her constituency following a generous donation from national charity Beauty Banks.
The APPG, which highlights and celebrates the British beauty industry, has partnered with the charity Beauty Banks to address hygiene poverty in the UK.
The charity is like a foodbank but supplies personal care and hygiene essentials instead of food.
They believe that everybody is a somebody and that we all have the right to be clean because our physical health, mental health and wellbeing depends on it.
Donations were made to Wyke Foodbank on Blackstone Avenue in Wyke, which is run by the Wyke Christian Council of Churches who are looking to reopen the foodbank tomorrow.
Revd. Lucy Wormsley, the vicar of St Mary’s Church in Wyke, said: “I would like to thank Beauty Banks for this incredible donation of beauty and hygiene products, it will give the Wyke food bank a real kick start for its relaunch on October 27.
“If you want to make a donation to Wyke Foodbank or get involved as a volunteer then please ring on 07941 380420, or if you live in Wyke and need our support please be in touch with our referral agencies or call citizens advice bureau free on 0808 2082138.”
Also at Wyke Foodbank was Andy Walsh, Chief Executive of Sandale Community Trust which runs a food bank that serves Buttershaw, Woodside and parts of Wyke, who met with Judith, Rev Lucy Wormsley, Cllr Sarah Ferriby and Cllr Rosie Watson to share ideas on how best to support local communities through food banks.
The next package was delivered with Cllr Andy Thornton and Cllr Ruth Wood to the Sandale Community Centre in Woodside.
Mrs Cummins MP said: “Beauty Banks is a brilliant charity which I’m proud to support.
“I was therefore delighted to make deliveries on behalf of the charity to groups across Bradford South.
“People can donate items to Beauty Banks via special boxes in Superdrug stores, including in the Broadway shopping centre.
“As always when I visit community groups, I was reminded of the brilliant work that staff and volunteers do to support local people.”
