A POWER CUT hit more than 450 buildings across the Bradford district today.

Northern Power Grid revealed that 480 buildings in the Ilkley, Ben Rhydding (LS29), Allerton and Lower Grange (BD15) areas of Bradford, Little Germany in the city centre (BD1) and the Seacroft area of Leeds (LS14) have been affected by unexpected outages today.

The first power cut was reported at 7.50am this morning, on cables serving from near Leeds-Bradford Aiport.

It hit 110 properties in total to begin with, across the LS14 and LS29 areas.

In the LS29 (Ilkley) area, buildings off Chapel Lane, Yewbank Terrace, Westville Road, Skipton Road, Church Street, and Middleton Road have been impacted by the power cut, according to Northern Power Grid's website.

In the LS14 area (Seacroft), units at Seacroft Green Shopping Centre, just off North Parkway and York Road, have been impacted by the power cut, according to Northern Power Grid's website.

The energy supplier initially said power was expected to be restored by 4pm, from this outage.

But that has since pushed back to 7.45pm, although now only 80 buildings are being affected.

The second power cut was first reported at 9.36am this morning, on cables serving from near Allerton Lane.

This originally hit 370 properties in total, across the BD15 and BD1 areas.

Northern Power Grid's website showed that included most of Allerton and Lower Grange, as well as a few buildings in the Little Germany area of the city centre.

But the energy supplier released an update at around 2.30pm to show only 80 premises were being affected by the outage at that time.

This was in the BD15 area.

Buildings off Chevet Mount, Bracewell Avenue and Allerton Lane were being impacted by the power cut, according to Northern Power Grid's website.

It said power was expected to be restored by 2.30pm, from this outage, but the issue was actually resolved at around 2.44pm.

But, at around 4.30pm Northern Power Grid released another update and said 370 buildings in the area were being affected by a power cut again.

This was mainly in the Allerton area and included premises off, Sonning Road, Allerton Lane, Bracewell Avenue, Chevet Mount, Ormonde Drive, Ayresome Oval, Hatcham Close, Chelwood Drive, Sandalwood Mews, Brindle Close, Fullbeck Close, Berrydale Close and Greenfinch Way.

Northern Power Grid did not give an expected time for when this power cut would be resolved, but the issue was sorted by roughly 5.24pm.

There was also an unexpected power cut on cables serving from the Ben Rhydding area this afternoon.

Less than 10 buildings were without electricity for a short time, before that was resolved.

All three power cuts have been caused by unexpected problems with the cables or equipment that serve the areas.

Northern Power Grid's website states: "Our team are working hard to restore your power as quickly as possible."
