A FOUR storey building in the heart of Bradford city centre will go to auction with a £200,000 minimum guide price next week.

Grade II listed Bank House, on Bank Street, used to house a former YMCA store on the ground floor and offices above.

On October 29 the property will go under the hammer when it is auctioned online by Allsops.

The listing describes the building as a "leasehold Grade II listed office building with possible potential for change of use to residential."

In early 2018 the Telegraph & Argus and Bradford Civic Society ran an article looking at 10 buildings in the city that had the potential to help the city's regeneration.

This building, on a key route between the Broadway and Kirkgate Shopping Centres, was one of the 10 buildings listed.

Alan Hall, then vice chair of the society, said: "This building occupies a prime location which is overlooked by two magnificent Victorian buildings – the Wool Exchange and the former Bradford Commercial Bank.

"However it’s been empty and exposed to vandalism for far too long now. A rejuvenated 39-40 Bank Street would complement them very well and enhance the public realm improvements already carried out in this area.

"It’s amazing it hasn’t been snapped up as a restaurant or cafe.”
