PENT-UP demand and changing buying habits has seen a surge in sales for new homes developments across Yorkshire.
The housebuilder Linden Homes has reported strong sales, with activity returning to pre-Covid levels.
Andrew Handslip, head of sales at Linden Homes Yorkshire, said: “During lockdown, we continued to work with customers looking to move. But since our sales offices reopened, enquiries have multiplied, defying the usual summer holiday lull.”
Yorkshire is the top-performing UK region, according to Home.co.uk, which shows a massive 8.1 per cent price growth year-on-year.
Mr Handslip said: “We are seeing a range of buyer
looking to move to larger homes with more space.
“The rise of home working has had a significant effect, causing many homeowners to reassess the suitability of their homes and the workspaces they have. Many buyers are looking for a study or additional bedroom to accommodate a home office.
“Purchasers are also willing to move further away from their places of work, as the frequency of their commute into the office has reduced.
“Demand for outside space has also jumped to the top of the wish-list, along with easy access to green open spaces and countryside."
