A BRADFORD doctor says there are no excuses after Health Secretary Matt Hancock and Gary Lineker were caught not wearing masks in public.

Dr Amir Khan criticised both for not wearing masks; Mr Lineker forgot to wear his in a shop, while Mr Hancock did not wear his while he was a passenger in a chauffeur-driven car.

Mr Lineker apologised on Twitter afterwards. He said: “In my old age, I went into a store and forgot to put my mask on.

“Was wondering why people were giving me daggers. Realised after a couple of minutes and hastily put it on. Felt awful and embarrassed. Apologies to those present.”

A number 10 spokesman says there are masks available in all ministerial cars.

Speaking on today’s Good Morning Britain, Dr Khan said: “The stakes are high and these are public figures.

“Matt Hancock is the Health Secretary and it’s important he is seen to be behaving in a way that he wants us all to behave in.

“It’s become second nature for most people now, wearing a mask. Occasionally, we may forget to wear them.

“It sounds harsh, and we forget, but we have got to do it. Matt Hancock, Gary Lineker, there’s no excuse there.

“It should become second nature to us now.”
