CARLTON Academy Trust has won a Certificate of Excellence for 'Impact Through Partnership' at the 2020 BBC/Pearson National Teaching Awards.
Based in Barkerend, the trust was recognised for its school improvement work at two Bradford schools - Tracks PRU in Shipley and University Academy Keighley (UAK).
In 2017, Tracks was placed in special measures but within a year, it was rated 'Good' in all areas by Ofsted.
UAK started working with the Trust in September 2018, with a large in-year financial deficit, recent teacher strikes and a history of of poor performance. It featured in a high-profile Ofsted research report about 'stuck schools'
Within 17 months of starting support, the school had gained its first ever 'Good' rating from Ofsted with improved staff relationships and healthy finances.
