DETECTIVES have charged a man for attempted murder following a stabbing on Harris Street earlier this week.

On Monday, October 5, police were called to reports of a 34-year-old man found with injuries consistent of stab wounds to the chest and legs.

He remains in hospital being treated for his injuries.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene and he has now been charged with attempted murder.

Cameron Hussain, of Greaves Street, Bradford will appear at Bradford Magistrates Court this morning (October 7).

Earlier this week, Councillor Rizwana Jamil of the Bowling and Barkerend ward - which is where the incident took place - expressed her “shock” at what she said was a “concerning” incident.

Councillor Jamil said: “It was a shock to hear than a young man has been stabbed, but it is also a relief to know that his injuries are non life-threatening.

“It is concerning when, unfortunately, we see incidents of serious violence like this one.

“Residents in the local area will naturally be worried and concerned for their own and their family’s safety.

“However, the police have reassured everyone that this is an isolated incident, and they have also added that a police presence will remain in the area.

“I would urge the local community not to panic and continue to assist the police with their enquiries."
