AN area of land off Manningham Lane currently bordered by advertising billboards, could be developed as shops, offices and apartments.

The land is next to 134 Manningham Lane, a former branch of Bradford Provident Industrial Society dating back to 1890 and now a clothing store.

A planning application submitted to Bradford Council by Tariq Mahmood reveals plans to build on the land next to the building, which is currently overgrown and subject to fly tipping.

The development will include three shops spread out across the building’s ground and lower ground floors, a first floor office and two, two bedroom flats on the building’s second floor.

The application says: “Every effort has been made in the design of this extension to match and complement the host building and the other buildings in the surrounding area.”

There will also be five parking spaces.

A decision on the application is expected next month.
