Man killed by Bradford Lifeboat on Leeds Road...
This intriguing 1905 newspaper article, from the Yorkshire Observer, was sent to us by local historian Andrew Bolt. It reveals a tragedy at a festival held in Bradford to celebrate local funding for the nation's lifeboats.
Poor Edward Mulligan of Bolton Street lost his life when he was “crushed by the wheel of a lifeboat wagon” at Bradford’s Lifeboat Carnival. As the report says, the National Lifeboat Institution pledged to donate to a fun set up to help his family.
