LATEST NEWS: Travellers may be ousted from railway station car park this week
THE landowner and Bradford Council are working together after more than 20 travellers' caravans set up in Apperley Bridge train station car park at the weekend.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Combined Authority, who owns the land, said: "We are aware that some of the travelling community have moved their vehicles onto the car park at Apperley Bridge train station.
"The car park is still open, however spaces are limited. We are working closely with Bradford Council on this matter.”
A Bradford Council spokesman added "This land is not owned by the council so it is the landowner’s responsibility to go through the legal process to get the encampment evicted. But our Environmental Health Service can provide advice on the legal process."
Around 20 to 30 caravans flocked to Apperley Bridge Railway Station over the first weekend in October.
They first started to arrive on Friday, October 2, with more turning up on Saturday, October 3.
