BRADFORD is home to some of the most talented musicians in the UK- at least in our humble opinion.

From world renowned pop bands to award-winning soloists, a lot of musical talent has originated from the region.

Here are five of the most famous musicians from Bradford- who would you add to the list?

Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs

The Kaiser Chiefs rose to fame in the early 2000s with hit songs ‘I Predict A Riot’ and ‘Ruby’.

According to the Official Charts, the band have had 9 UK top 40s and have won three Brit awards for their contribution to rock music.

However, were you aware that front man Ricky Wilson was actually born in Keighley? He even attended Ghyll Royd School in Ilkley and taught at Leeds College of Art before the band’s successful career really kicked off.

Gareth Gates

Gareth first appeared on our screens with his iconic spiked hair on Pop Idol.

He was runner up to Will Young on the show- but he still carved out a successful music career.

Some of Gareth’s top hits include ‘Spirit In The Sky’, ‘Say It Ain’t So’ and ‘Unchained Melody’.

While he hasn’t released a single since the late 2010s, he has been in a variety of musicals, such as Les Miserables and Boogie Nights.

The Bradford-born man even attended the local Dixons City Academy school and was a choirboy at Bradford Cathedral.

He even opened a theatre academy at the school back in 2011, offering master-classes on acting and singing.

He spoke to The Telegraph and Argus in 2011 and said: “Because I came to this school as well, I’m friends with most of the teachers and I’ve kept in touch, particularly with the music department, so we wanted to give something back.”

Tasmin Archer

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Tasmin ArcherTasmin Archer You might remember Bradford-born Tasmin from her hit song ‘Sleeping Satellite’ which reached number one in the UK  and Ireland charts.

She even went on to win a Brit award in 1993 for Best British Breakthrough Act- she was also nominated for Best British Video and Best British Female Solo Artist.

Zayn Malik

Zayn is undoubtedly one of East Bowling’s most famous faces.

He found fame on talent TV show The X Factor, where he made up one fifth of One Direction.

The group found international fame had several hit songs, including ‘What Makes  You Beautiful’ and ‘Story of My Life’.

Even as a solo artist, Zayn has had a lot of success; his 2016 album pillow talk and went straight to number one in the sales chart when it was released.

Kimberley Walsh

Girls Aloud was a pop group formed in 2002 on the talent show Popstars:The Rivals.

They had a lot of success in the UK, with 21 UK Top 10s and five studio albums.

Kimberley Walsh was one fourth of the band-and she grew up in Bradford.

She even attending Sandy Lane Primary School and Beckfoot Grammar in Bingley.
