ROWENA ‘Bunty’ Harker Leder from Grassington has - she says - ‘led a full and mainly frivolous life’.

Her life of international travel started with her working as an au-pair in Paris and included her becoming a Bluebell Girl at the world famous Lido in Paris.

While a Bluebell, she was part of the first European show to cross the Atlantic when the troupe was asked to become the resident performers at the then newly opened Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas.

Her varied career path also saw her carrying out a long haul stint as an air stewardess with BOAC - now British Airways - when she flew internationally for ten years. Between 1961 and 1972, she lived in South Chelsea, London and freely admits she ‘helped to make the sixties swing’.

She married aged 36, is now a public speaker, and just three years ago recorded an exercise video which so far has been viewed more than 16,000 times on YouTube.

Now, having just last week celebrated her 84th birthday, she is about to publish a book all about her extraordinary life.

Anyone pre-ordering ‘Love and Laughter Around the World’ before October 10 will be listed as a subscriber in the book. Priced £20, it can be bought at the Stripey Badger, Grassington, or online at: rowenaharkerleder.co.uk/
