THE 'devastating' news of the death of a baby girl in Keighley has 'touched the hearts' of the community.

Sixteen-month-old Star Alicia Hobson died on September 22 following an incident on Halifax Road, Keighley.

Two women have been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.

Frankie Smith, 19, of Halifax Road, Keighley, and Savanna Brockhill, 27, of Ashbourne Road, Bradford, appeared at Bradford Magistrates yesterday and both have been remanded into custody to appear at Bradford Crown Court on Monday, October 26.

Cllr Caroline Firth (Lab, Keighley East) said: "This situation is incredibly sad and tragic. My thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved Star.

"It’s devastating news to hear about the death of this little girl."

"It's a tragedy and is a horrifying piece of news," added Councillor Zafar Ali (Con, Keighley Central). "Everyone who hears about this news their heart will be touched.

"The death of this baby girl does touch my heart. The rest of her life is gone.

"Children are children and they are such a joy for our families.

"When you come home they are the joy of your life.

"I feel sorry for this girl and the family. It's such a traumatic situation for them.

"I offer my condolences to the parents and close relatives of this girl.

"It's something we don't want to see in this day and age.

"It is such sad news and people will be feeling sorry for this family."
