POLICE have seized a van in Bradford which was being driven with no MOT for six months, and had failed a test in July, which was described as 'more rust than van'.
West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit shared the seizure of the van last night, and in a tweet also shared a copy of its recent MOT failure certificate.
The team said they stopped the van as its MOT had expired in March, and following further checks found it had had a test in July which it failed.
The vehicle was issued with an immediate prohibition order and taken away on a low loader.
In the fail certificate shared by police, major defects with the van which needed to be repaired immediately, but weren't, included:
- offside front brake excessively corroded
- front integral body structure corroded to the extent that the rigidity of the assembly is significantly reduced under the bumper
- offside integral body structure corroded to the extent that the rigidity of the assembly is significantly reduced
- offside front lower integral body structure is fractured and structural rigidity is significantly reduced step under driver door
- nearside integral body structure or chassis has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of a body mounting inner sill holes.
In response to the police's tweet, one user said: "More rust than van, then."
Another simply labelled the van a "death trap".
