A TERRIFIED dog was returned to a "very relieved" owner after getting stuck on one of the district's busiest roads.
The scared Shih Tzu was found after members of the public flagged down officers on the A650 in Drighlington at just before 6pm yesterday.
The petrified pooch was hiding underneath a car on the busy road after escaping from its owner's garden.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit safely managed to get the dog out from under the vehicle and said it "thankfully appeared uninjured although a little shaken".
The officers then returned the dog to a "very relieved" owner.
