BRADFORD Council’s Libraries Service will celebrate Libraries Week this October with a huge programme of online events and activities.
Top authors from a range of genres will host online events along with theatre sessions, small animal workshops and under-fives interactive story times during the weeklong celebration from October 5-10.
The free online events include talks by A.A. Dhand (crime author), Milly Johnson (romance novelist) and Kate Fox (poet and stand-up comedian).
For children aged 4-14 years there are interactive small animal workshops with Zoolab and online drama workshops with Hoglets Theatre including Pandora’s Box and Persephone’s Story.
Under-fives can enjoy Burley’s Babies with Maddie, Rhymetime with SueBC, a storytime events with author Louise Aaron, Bradford Libraries and a We’re Going On A Story Hunt interactive session with storyteller John Kirk.

Activities and competitions will also form part of the week long celebrations including an Order & Collect Mystery Read where customers will be offered a mystery read in their order and collect packages.
There will be a Borrow Box Golden Winning Ticket where customers can win a £30 Waterstones voucher if they borrow an e-book or e-audio book and are randomly selected during Libraries Week.
Free Craft Packs are on offer at selected libraries for children aged 3+ when you order and collect. Bradford Libraries are also launching a new Book Reviews webpage including reviews by staff, volunteers and public.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Executive Member for Healthy People and Places at Bradford Council, said: “Bradford Libraries have some great services to offer and we’re excited to see these highlighted through the events and activities during Libraries Week this year.
“Our libraries are open for Order & Collect by phone, email or online giving everyone the opportunity to access free books and reading materials and this is definitely something to celebrate.”
