MORE Covid-19 cases have emerged at schools across the Bradford district.

A Year 2 bubble at one primary school has been closed after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

Bowling Park Primary School issued an update on its social media channels.

A statement said: "Following a staff member testing positive for Covid-19 we have closed our Year 2 bubble at Usher Street only.

"We took this swift action in line with Government guidelines to ensure the safety of all our children, families and staff. We have sent you a letter from Public Health England today.

"The rest of our school at New Cross and Usher Street remains safe and open for all children."

Meanwhile, Lapage Primary School, Barkerend, has confirmed its third case in just under two weeks.

A letter issued yesterday said: "We have been advised by Public Health England that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the school. We know that you may find this concerning but are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.

"This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

"The small number of children who have been in direct prolonged contact with the confirmed case will have received an individual letter and will be staying at home for 14 days. The school remains open and your child should continue to attend if they remain well."

And New College Bradford confirmed a case yesterday.

A letter said: "We have been advised that there has been a confirmed student case of Covid-19 within the college.

"We know that you may find this concerning, but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (Covid-19) will be a mild illness.

"The small number of students who have been in direct prolonged contact with the confirmed case will be contacted and will receive an individual letter instructing the students to stay at home for 14 days.

"This letter is to inform you of the current situation. If any future cases occur, we will not write to all parents again, but we will continue to follow rigorous procedures to identify and contact all close contacts of the confirmed case. It is ours and the Government’s priority to keep students in education, in order to ensure that our young people are in the best possible position to progress to their next steps.

"The college remains open and we are confident that we have the necessary arrangements in place to keep everyone as safe as possible. Your child should continue to attend if they remain well."

Beckfoot School at Bingley has also confirmed there has been a case in the school.

Headteacher Simon Wade said: "We have been advised by Public Health England that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 in Beckfoot School.

"As a result a small number of students have been asked to isolate and been provided with actions to take in relation to Covid 19. These students will be supported with home learning whilst they self- isolate. There is no impact on classroom learning for other students and school remains open.

"This news and advice has also been shared with all our colleagues, parents and carers. Our community is very important to us and as always, we have been open and honest and kept all informed. The health and wellbeing of all remains our priority.

"We know that our community take seriously the responsibilities we all have in following the guidance to keep everybody safe and well during this challenging time.

"We appreciate the hugely positive continued support of our community that enables this to happen.

"We continue to review our risk assessment in order that we adhere to all current guidance, keep our community informed and to support our children and families in any way we can."

Some students at Feversham Academy, Undercliffe, are also self-isolating: “Following a student testing positive for COVID-19 and after closely consulting with the relevant authorities, a number of students identified as potential contacts are now at home self-isolating as a precautionary measure. All students and parents have been informed and those students who are self-isolating are now accessing remote learning from home to minimise any disruption to their education.

“We have robust safety measures in place across the academy, including stringent social distancing measures, temperature detecting devices, increased hygiene and cleaning procedures, as well as face coverings being worn in communal areas. This has meant we have been able to immediately identify potential contacts which will help limit any spread of the virus.

“The school is therefore safe to remain open and we will be continuing to work closely with Public Health England to ensure we are taking all necessary precautions, with the health, safety and wellbeing of our whole school community as our number one priority”.

Raising Explorers after school learning club, based at the Carlisle Business Centre in Manningham, also confirmed there had been a positive case.

In a message to parents, it said: "In accordance with the government guidelines, that specific bubble including the teacher will now be isolating for two weeks.

"We know that this may cause some concern for parents however rest assured that we have taken all possible precautions wherever possible.

"Thank you for your understanding in these challenging times."
