A BRADFORD school has shut its main campus due to coronavirus cases and because of the number of people with symptoms.

Chellow Heights School, which is a special school for learners between the ages of two and 11, confirmed it has closed its West Campus, in Thorn Lane.

Headteacher, Sue Haithwaite, said: "Due to the number of our school community either reporting symptoms or having received a positive test for COVID-19, we took the decision to close the West Campus.

"The decision was taken in full consultation with Public Health England and Bradford Council.

"The safety of our pupils and staff is our top priority.

"All parents and staff have been notified and offered appropriate support and advice.

"Staff will remain in regular contact with pupils and provide remote learning."

The main site is located within a campus of schools, which includes Heaton Primary, Belle Vue Girls High School and Beckfoot Upper Heaton Academy.

Chellow Heights does have another site.

Called the "South Campus", it is situated just off Netherlands Avenue in Low Moor and is a single-storey building designed for 49 pupils.
