A VAN driver who was caught using his mobile phone was telling his friend about tip charges.
PC Claire Gray, a Roads Policing Officer with West Yorkshire Police, spotted a man driving his white Renault Kangoo van while on the phone in Bradford today.
It was at around 2.24pm.
The officer stopped the vehicle and questioned the driver.
He told PC Gray that he was "telling his friend how much he had been charged at the tip".
PC Claire Gray described that as a "rubbish excuse".
The driver was reported for the offence.
PC Claire Gray said: "Driver was spotted using his mobile phone.
"He said he was telling his friend how much he had been charged at the tip.
"Rubbish excuse to be using his phone whilst driving.
"Driver reported."
