A LARGE fire has caused a plume of black smoke to rise above Pudsey.

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue said they were called out around 7pm to reports of a fire originating from a house in the Mount Pleasant Road/Clifton Drive area.

Orange flames can be seen glowing near the house in several photos on social media.

Three fire engines are reported to be at the scene while an ambulance was also seen driving with its flashing blue lights through the town centre.

The fire service said crews - understood to be from Stanningley station - remain at the scene.

It was called in as a 'fire in the open', a spokesperson for Stanningley fire station said.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

A witness said: "It must have started about 7 o' clock, maybe a bit before. It looked like a small garden fire around that time, just a small amount of white smoke was all you could see. I left the house at 20 past 7 and saw all that black smoke and a couple of minutes later the first fire engine came past."

More as we get it.
