AFTER scores of concerned Bradford residents contacted us about the difficulties they have faced when trying to book Covid-19 tests in recent days, the Telegraph & Argus decided to try and book a test to see how difficult it is.

Yesterday, we went to the Government’s test booking website to try and get a test throughout the day, using addresses from across the district.

Bradford has regularly been around the top of the list of areas in England with the most cases, with the district being put in local lockdown and 70 per cent of the district still in lockdown.

Throughout yesterday we were unable to get an appointment at any test centres or order a home test despite trying on numerous occasions.

If we had been able to make a booking we would not have, this test was for research purposes only.

Our first attempt was at 8am, using random postcodes from Bradford East, South, West, Shipley and Keighley, and we were unable to get any appointments.

Slots at a testing centre in Bolton were available, but by the time we had completed the registration form they had all been taken.

We tried again at midday in Pudsey and were told the service was “currently busy” and that slots should be available later, but could not book an appointment or get a home test.

We tried again at 3pm in Bradford and in Pudsey and on both occasions were unable to get appointments or tests.
