BRADFORD has been ranked as one of the worst UK cities for hen dos, according to a new study.

With thousands of weddings being postponed until 2021, stag and hen dos have had to suffer the same fate. As Brits readjust and prepare for next year, foreign destinations for stag and hen dos seem less desirable due to the risk of travel restrictions being imposed at any given time. As an alternative, many are seeking out locations in the UK instead.

To assist Brits with their planning, OnBuy’s Party Department assessed several key variables of hen do experiences in towns and cities across the UK, to determine which are the best and worst domestic locations.

The variables analysed for this research include the number of male strip clubs, cocktail bars, nightclubs, karaoke bars as well as the average price of an Airbnb, alcoholic drinks and taxis (per Km).

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

With a score of 0 points, Bradford is the fifth worst location in the UK for hen dos.

Bradford achieved the score for having zero male strip clubs, only one cocktail bar, two nightclubs, zero karaoke bars, a £77 average price of an Airbnb in the city, £3 average price of alcoholic drinks and city taxis cost 75p per kilometre.

Gloucester holds the title of the worst location for hen dos, with a negative score of -240. Given its limited nightlife options, it’s easy to see why it is at the bottom of the pile.

Newport also ranks poorly, coming in third. With only a few nightlife spots and hefty Airbnb prices (£249), the Welsh city scores -60 in the index.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

OnBuy.com found that Liverpool is the best location in the UK to have a hen do. The wealth of cocktail bars and nightclubs means it scores an impressive 720 points.

In second position is Birmingham with a score of 710. A huge selling point for Birmingham is the rich array of nightlife the city has to offer.

Glasgow is in third spot. With a score of 650, the Scottish city has a good number of nightclubs/bars to enjoy. In addition to this, it also on average has the third cheapest Airbnb rates. In seventh place is Leeds with a score of 440. When you consider the average Airbnb price (£79), alcohol price (£3.72) and taxi price (£0.93 per km) it’s a very cost-effective domestic destination for a hen do in the UK.

Provide Clear Guidance

Keep track of everyone can be a stressful task. To relieve some of the pressure, produce a clear schedule and make sure everyone attending has a copy (best to send it via email). It doesn’t have to be complex, as long as it outlines key times and locations for the duration of your stay.

Plan Ahead

Make sure to book the venues you’d like to visit in advance, such as cocktail and karaoke bars, to avoid disappointment. Have all documents printed and ready to go such as hotel confirmation and e-tickets. Also, note the telephone number of your hotel as well as any local reputable taxi companies in case of an emergency.

Maintain Good Manners

Drink and act responsibly. Have loads of fun but don’t do so by becoming a nuisance due to excessive alcohol consumption. Try to avoid being rude to others, shouting on the streets and littering when visiting another city.
