The second most popular ‘lucky’ girl’s name comes from Greek origin, meaning “bearer of good news”, Evangeline. This name has a total of 770 Google searches this month from parents-to-be and is the 43rd most popular girl’s name according to nameberry.com

In second place is Felix, similar to Asher, it derives from Latin and simply means “happy; lucky”. Overall, Felix places as the 18th most popular boy’s name on nameberry.com and receives a total of 1,940 searches monthly!

Quinn is said to come from the Irish-Gaelic word “ceann” meaning “sense and intelligence” and it ranks as the third most desired lucky boy’s name. It receives 4,740 searches each month and places as the 421st most popular among parents.

Why Are Parents Choosing Lucky Baby Names?

Following this research, Compare.bet were keen to uncover the general opinion of a ‘lucky’ name. Therefore, they surveyed 3,428 parents and parents-to-be to find out what they really think.

Compare.bet found that almost 8 in 10 (78%) would consider giving their child a lucky name, with only 22% wishing to avoid it. Of those who would do so, a whopping 94% believe giving their child a name with meanings of good fortune will help them later in life.

Of those considering giving their baby a lucky name, their main reasons are as follows: 1. It will bring them luck/help them in life – 44% 2. It’s pretty – 23% 3. It’s trendy – 15% 4. They used SEMrush to find the search volumes for each name, searching for terms such as “Iris name”, “Iris baby name” and “Iris girls name”. All data was collected on 24/08/2020.
