SMOKE alarms saved the day when a scented candle sparked a house fire.
Firefighters were called to Prospect Mill Meadows at around 1.30pm today, where a candle in a bathroom set fire to a wash basket and a mirror.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said smoke alarms woke the occupant of the house up.
They were able to put the fire out with buckets of water and firefighters used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke.
No-one was injured.
Firefighters were at the house for around an hour.
