THE Air Ambulance rushed to a town after a 47-year-old man suffered a heart attack.

A number of people spotted the helicopter flying over Heckmondwike this afternoon and there was widespread concern on social media website, Facebook.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance confirmed its helicopter was sent out at 12.24pm to a 47-year-old male who had suffered a cardiac arrest in the town.

The Air Ambulance landed near Leeds Road (A62) and the Critical Care Team on-board assessed the patient.

They then travelled with him in the road ambulance to hospital for further treatment.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance spokesperson said: "At 12.24pm our Nostell aircraft was dispatched to a 47 year old male who suffered a cardiac arrest in Heckmondwike.

"Our Critical Care Team assessed the patient and have travelled with him in the road ambulance to hospital for further treatment.

"We landed near the A62 Leeds Road."
