A CAR club scheme, which allows people to rent low emission vehicles, is being expanded in Bradford.

The club is a partnership between Bradford Council and Enterprise Car Club, and four new locations in the District have just been announced.

The new vehicles are located in Burnett Street (Little Germany), the Crown Court, Jacobs Well, and Exhibition Road (Saltaire).

This takes the total number of car club vehicles in the district to 12, including a van and a car based at the Enterprise rental branch in Keighley.

Last year Enterprise doubled the number of car club members in the city, with a further 30 per cent increase in 2020.

The expansion of the car club supports the Council’s aim of delivering more integrated public and shared transport options to reduce congestion, improve air quality and offer convenient access to active and sustainable travel. Employees already use Enterprise Car Club for their business journeys.

Mixed response to plans for Clean Air Zone in Bradford

The Bradford car club fleet of low-emission and hybrid vehicles is available for rental from £7.40 per hour, providing local businesses and individuals with access 24/7, 365 days of the year.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport at Bradford Council, said: “As the UK comes out of lockdown, people are keen to travel again in the most sustainable and efficient way possible. Car clubs are an easy and convenient solution that is also great value for money. Plus, members know that as well as protecting the environment, every vehicle has been thoroughly sanitised between each use.

“Our aim is to reduce CO2 emissions across Bradford without affecting people’s access to a wide range of convenient transport options. Working with Enterprise is helping us to achieve that goal. The new locations are also a welcome addition for our growing number of city centre residents, as well as those who work, visit and shop here.”

Sak Gill, Enterprise’s General Manager for the North East, added: “The support from the Council and our members has driven this expansion and demonstrates that car clubs can offer an effective choice for sustainable motoring. Our Complete Clean Pledge ensures customers can feel totally comfortable using our vehicles.

“We’re continuing to expand Enterprise Car Club across the UK, reaching communities large and small, to enable more flexible, low-emission and value for money options for both businesses and individuals.”

Enterprise Car Club’s other locations in the Bradford district are Margaret McMillan Tower in Bradford, Sharpe Street in Bradford, Saltaire Station in Saltaire and the Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch in Keighley, Appleton House on Barkerend Road and Priestley Court in Ilkley.
