AN activity programme, run from Wibsey Community Garden by Bradford Organic Community Services has seen local children growing their own produce at home.
The two programmes - a 12-week Bradford HealthyHolidays programme and a four-week Department for Education-funded programme - have been delivered to 70 children in the BD6 and BD7 areas of the district throughout lockdown.
Growing packs and packed lunches have been delivered door to door and the courses run in four-week cycles for each intake of children. Each week has a theme, with week 1 being growing week and the subsequent weeks having craft and nature-themed activities.
Jen White, of BOCS, said: “Children have really enjoyed our project and are planning to grow at home. We have provided cut and come again plants so they can continue growing after the project ends.”

BOCS will also be showing off what they grow on site at Wibsey Community Gardens with a pop-up market stall at the gates of the park between 10am and 3.30pm tomorrow.
Produce on sale will include fruit, salad items, vegetables and herbs.
The Community Gardens are held in trust by Bradford Council and leased to BOCS on a ten-year lease until 2027.
