AUGUST 1982 cinemas across the country were preparing to showcase Pink Floyds new film - The Wall, filmed locally, with the help of the award-winning Bradford Boys’ Brigade Battalion Band.
The idea of using a Boys’ Brigade band came from the film’s director Alan Parker, a former BB lad in Islington.
Locomotives from Keighley-Worth Valley Railway were also featured in the movie alongside hundreds of extras drafted in from throughout Yorkshire to help add that 1940s flavour.
The partially-animated film starring Bob Geldof, told the story of Pink, a man disturbed by living in a stressful society.
Wearing BB uniforms from the 1940s – including the old pill box hat, 30 boys and officers took three days off school, work, and college to be on set at the Keighley Worth Valley Railway Station in November 1981.
The troops are welcomed home on the platform at the Worth Valley Railway Station, on the set of the 1982 Pink Floyd film - The Wall.
