Have you ever fancied living in a stately home? If so, you need look no further than... Clayton!

From the outside this terraced home looks little different to those next door.

But behind closed doors it is a picture of sumptuous grandeur with a dining room modelled on no less than the one to be found in Chatsworth House.

Owners Craig Halliday and Dean Greenwood bought it five years ago and have lovingly transformed it into the des-res of their dreams - but now it's up for sale at £179,950 to anyone who would like to live in the high life in regal splendour.

Visitors to Selborne Villas in Clayton, Bradford, will be amazed by the similarities between the ceiling in its dining room and that of the stately home in Derbyshire.

Craig and Dean were so impressed by the Chatsworth ceiling they bought postcards of it then had them enlarged and stuck on their own ceiling back home - framed by gilded coving.

Over the years Dean, a hairdresser, and Craig, a violinist, have scoured reclamation yards and home magazines for more ideas.

They have splashed out on antiques, on a replica ornate Victorian balustrade for the landing, there are sparkling chandaliers to dazzle, and relief carvings of pears and grapes.

One talking point in particular for guests is the bedroom en-suite that you get to - through a wardrobe.

"It's like going through to Narnia. Guests are always amazed!" said Dean.

The marbled jacuzzi room is one of Craig's favourite rooms - to make sure it was safe, they had to get engineers in to check that the joists could cope with the giant sunken feature.

And in the other bathroom, there's an outrageously opulent touch of Tutankhamun with a couple of Pharaoh's masks putting in an appearance.

But now their work on Selborne Villas is done, Dean and Craig are planning on moving.

They have set their sights on pastures new for them and the Arab horses that Dean breeds and are drawing up plans to build a new place among the 30-odd acres they have bought at a location in the Calder Valley.
