Efforts to run extra direct rail services between Bradford and London have been stepped up.
A new company has been formed to focus on developing more services from Bradford to the capital.
The company, Grand Union, is described as an open-access railway firm set up by Grand Central Railway, which is about to launch a new Sunderland to London service.
As part of the move, Ian Yeowart, Grand Central's managing director, will lead the development work on the proposed Bradford and Halifax to London services, by becoming Managing Director of Grand Union Railway Company Limited.
A Grand Union spokesman said: "The company has been formed to focus on development of further open access train services."
In addition, Mr Yeowart will continue to support Grand Central's own future aspirations by becoming its Business Development Director.
Meanwhile, Tom Clift, a highly-experienced rail industry manager, has taken over as managing director of Grand Central.
Grand Union is looking to run services along the East Coast Main Line from Bradford to London.
