A radio show DJ was threatened with suspension after an astonishing live outburst against his station bosses.

Darren Kelly presents the Breakfast Show on Pulse FM. He had a lengthy "rant" after receiving a text message from his superior branding his work "lazy, weak and useless".

His co-presenter Jacqui Blay listened in stunned silence as Mr Kelly launched the tirade before walking out of the studio.

He was coaxed back into the studio, in Forster Square, Bradford, and agreed to carry on with the show. He then had a second outburst against his boss Mark Brow who is believed to have sent a text criticising a link.

Married father-of-one Mr Kelly, of Baildon, said: "He sent this horrible, horrible nasty text and I thought that's it, I've had enough of this'. The station is growing, Breakfast is growing we have made it big time, then he just brought me right down."

After a meeting with programme director Mr Brow, station director Tony Wilkinson and publicity officer, Richard Murie, Mr Kelly said he was threatened with suspension.

Mr Murie later moved to diffuse the spat, saying it was a "storm in a teacup".
