MORRISONS Cafes are to extend the government’s Eat Out To Help Out scheme throughout the week which will mean that meal prices will be slashed by 50 per cent from Monday to Sunday.

The government-funded scheme operates from Monday to Wednesday and Morrisons is funding the 50 per cent discount through the rest of the week.

Customers will now be able to get meals like a Full English Breakfast for £1.62 (down from £3.75), Freshly Battered Fish & Chips for just £2.25 (down from £4.95) and Bangers & Mash for £1.75 (down from £4). These prices will be available throughout the week and also include the 15 per cent cut in VAT.

Lighter bites including Jacket Potatoes will now start from £1.50 with the Chicken & Avocado Salad costing just £2.25.

All side dishes will be included in the savings meaning customers can grab a bowl of chips or side of garlic bread for just 37p.

Hot drinks will drop by more than 50 per cent meaning customers can pick up a barista-prepared coffee or a cup of Yorkshire Tea for just 50p.

To enable more families to eat out this August, Morrisons is also letting kids eat free all day, meaning a family of four could eat breakfast at Morrisons cafes for just £1 and lunch from just £3.50. Morrisons hopes the reduced prices will help budget-conscious families to enjoy a meal out.

Ali Lyons, Head of Cafes at Morrisons, said: “We want as many customers as possible to be able to take advantage of Eat Out to Help Out.

“Many customers visit our stores later in the week, so we’re extending this offer throughout the week so they can enjoy half price meals too.”

Morrisons cafes were closed during the lockdown but re-opened in July after a multi-million-pound investment in social distancing safety measures. These included: ● Investing in 11,000 freestanding Perspex screens so customers can eat in neighbouring booths safely ● Employing hosts in each cafe to take customers to tables that will either be protected by the screens or distant from other customers ● Having hand sanitiser available at all times ● Introducing helpful signage that helps customers to navigate their way round the cafe while sticking to the one-metre-plus rule
