THE MP for Barrow and Furness has welcomed the start of the Government’s Eat Out To Help Out Scheme, which gives people 50 per cent off their bills in restaurants, cafes and pubs.

The scheme – active on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in August – applies to all food and non-alcoholic drinks, with a maximum discount per person of £10.

Across Barrow and Furness there are more than 50 eateries who have signed up to the scheme.

MP Simon Fell said: “The Eat Out To Help Out scheme is a great way to boost local businesses and protect jobs across our hospitality sector – which has been hard hit by coronavirus – while allowing families to keep more money in their pockets.

“On Saturday, I spent the day visiting some of our fantastic pubs and restaurants across Furness to see the social distancing measures they’ve put in place and how business has been since re-opening.”
