A BRADFORD rehab facility has urged those suffering with addiction to seek the help they need - regardless of new lockdown rules.

Oasis Recovery, based on Bolling Road, treats people for addiction to drugs and alcohol, as well as for eating disorders, gaming, gambling and prescription drugs.

The specialist therapy team there are urging those across West Yorkshire, including the areas which are now following new localised lockdown rules, to seek the help they need for their addiction.

The team revealed that during the Covid-19 crisis, they continued to admit two addicts per day during lockdown, but that figure was at least 20 per cent lower compared to the same time period last year.

As the country started to ease out of lockdown, Oasis Recoverysaid it wasa inundated with hundreds of calls for help each week, with the facility operating at maximum capacity throughout June and July as they treated the bottleneck of addicts that hadn't sought the help they needed earlier.

Managing Director Eytan Alexander said: “Oasis Recovery in Bradford is still very much open and admitting clients for addiction treatment on a daily basis.

"Those suffering with addiction in our community were failed during the national lockdown; they were not made aware that services like ours were still able to provide safe support.

“We’re worried that history is about to repeat itself, so we’re here to say we are open, we are following all Public Health England guidelines and we are a safe place to get the help you need.

“Please do not suffer with your addiction at home on your own, regardless of the current or any future lockdown rules.”
