The Yorkshire Society, represented by Chairman, Sir Rodney Walker and CEO, Phillip Bell, presented him with an Honorary Membership and a framed poem entitled ‘One of Our Own’ by bestselling Barnsley author and Vice President of The Yorkshire Society, Milly Johnson.
Mr Bell said: The idea of a poem came to my mind because I knew of Milly’s abilities and she is a Vice President of The Yorkshire Society.
"It just seemed a nice way to deliver a message to Sir Captain Tom from the people of Yorkshire; Milly essentially putting into words what we all in Yorkshire, collectively, think and feel. She has not let us down!”
