PEOPLE in Bradford have been urged to enter an online raffle to win a £500,000 house in West Yorkshire - at just £2 per ticket.

Den Goodridge, 43, has put his house up for sale in this unusual way after seeing a previous sale fall through due to the pandemic.

The Victorian house, which is in Huddersfield, has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a games room and a fully-stocked wine cellar featuring 300 bottles which Mr Goodridge says he will leave behind for the raffle prize winner.

Tickets are available online for the raffle until October 30, or the prize draw will be made earlier if all 500,000 tickets are sold before then. Around 7,000 tickets have been sold already.

Mr Goodridge says he hopes to give between £10,000 and £20,000 from the total raised in the raffle to ward 52 at Leeds General Infirmary's Clarendon Wing.

He wants to give back after they saved his eight-year-old daughter's life after she was taken to the hospital after suffering an abscess on her brain. She was taken into theatre where her life was saved twice that night.

Mr Goodridge has taken inspiration from Dale Tate, who decided to auction off his Ossett home and car through an online auction site.

He made 400,000 raffle tickets available, each costing £1, earlier this year.

Mr Goodridge said: "I just started the raffle up a couple of days ago.

"I was a bit sceptical about it when I saw Dale's raffle, but I bought 100 tickets myself for that one. It's all legal and above board. No rules are broken by selling a house this way.

"I have seen that quite a few people have put their houses up for sale this way.

"It seems like a really good idea and gives someone a chance to buy it at just £2 a go.

"We have had the house on the market for a year.

"I would urge people from Bradford to enter the raffle. My house in Huddersfield is lovely, only 20 minutes from Bradford and near the motorway.

"I have family in Bingley and come over to Bradford to play badminton. I have "I decided to raffle my house after being inspired by Dale Tate's successful raffle on his home in Ossett.

"Again myself and my family had sold our house, it fell through due to the pandemic and now we need to move but can’t sell.

"We have another baby on the way and thought we would try this as it worked for Dale.

"It seems like a great way to get moved in the current property climate, I am also doing this as I am wanting to raise as much money as possible for ward 52, Clarendon Wing, LGI."

Meanwhile, regarding comments on social media about his past as an estate agent, including trading without being part of an industry regular, Mr Goodridge told the Telegraph & Argus that was all in his past and he is now working in a different field.
