A MOTORCYCLIST has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision with a car on the Shipley Airedale Road, in Bradford, this afternoon.

A spokesman for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said a land and air ambulance attended the scene at 3.40pm, along with two rapid response vehicles.

The air ambulance landed on the carriageway near the junction with North Street.

The rider of the motorcycle was taken by land ambulance to Leeds General Infiurmary with what has been described as a 'major trauma'.

The road was closed in both directions while emergency services attended.

Drivers are being made aware that there will be delays along the road while the vehicles are recovered.
