KEIGHLEY MP Robbie Moore is urging people to “eat out to help out”.

He is calling on constituents to back a scheme designed to tempt the public back into pubs, cafes and restaurants – and help the businesses recover from the impact of lockdown.

Throughout next month, customers will be able to get their meal up to half price – to a maximum of £10 – on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Businesses will claim the money back from the Government.

Mr Moore said the move was among various measures announced by the Chancellor Rishi Sunak designed to boost the tourism and hospitality sector.

Mr Moore said: “Now that the virus is coming under control, we must turn our attention to creating and protecting jobs. I hope that everyone will answer the call to ‘eat out to help out’.

“This fantastic new voucher scheme, along with the cut in VAT, is the much-needed lifeline many businesses have been calling for.”

Mr Moore has praised Keighley’s business community during a parliamentary debate.

And he singled out furniture store Rooms, in Hanover Street, for a particular mention.

“We have some fantastic independent businesses across the constituency, just like the fantastic furniture store @roomsfurnitureshop on Hanover Street in Keighley run by Andrew and Janine Foster and their son Joe,” he said.
