LOCKDOWN performer Will Binns spent 100 days entertaining the people of Grassington - and further afield - with a different ‘lip sync’ video posted on Facebook every day - and has ended up raising about £1,800 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

Will, now back at work at The Corner Cafe in Grassington, decided to put his time to good use by posting a different video every day - and he was amazed by the reaction.

With the help of friends, as backing singers, and behind the camera, and with a range of props, costumes and make-up, he performed a range of songs from the likes of David Bowie, Madonna and the Three Degrees.

Songs, starting off on day one with the opening salvo from The Sound Of Music, ranged from hits from the musicals, Grease, Mary Poppins and The Greatest Showman.

At the end of the 100 days, and on the suggestion of others, he decided to raise money for a good cause, and chose to support Manorlands Hospice, in memory of his mother, who was cared for at the hospice and who died in 2014.

He said: “ I went for a walk and thought I would do it. A lot of people said they were struggling with lockdown and that me posting videos every day helped. Now that I’ve finished I thought I’d be cheeky and ask that anyone that’s enjoyed any of my videos to just chuck in anything they can, even just the price of a pint.

“So many people have known someone that has benefitted from Manorlands and it really has a special place in my heart, as that’s where my mum was cared for. The latest fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed due to Covid-19 so now they need our help more than ever! I can never do enough to help them, but I try.”

Carly Metcalfe, said Will had done a great job in cheering people up.

“His first was done just for fun but it ended up continuing for another 99 days after everyone showed their appreciation for the distraction from the crazy world of lockdown. We want to show our appreciation to an amazing performer. Even pantomime dame Lola made a sneaky appearance near the end. Thank you Will.”
